(as a parent/guardian),

My husband has waited for over a year for cataract surgery at Ninewells Hospital. He heard today that a friend only waited 4 months for theirs.

I’m truly sorry to hear about the long wait your husband has experienced for cataract surgery. I completely understand your concern. While every case may be assessed individually based on clinical urgency, I appreciate how frustrating and confusing this situation must be.
