The WiFi in Ward 2A is beyond a joke and contributes to the difficult time children are going through.
My child has been an inpatient since December and is regularly in and out of the Ward. She can’t play games on her iPad and watching videos online is very laggy. She can’t phone or video family members because the connection is so poor. How does that promote wellbeing in children going through the worst time of their life and their families? I have heard the excuse about keeping the security safety on the Ward but surely there are ways to allow both.
In terms of food , the Ward food is not even edible and that is when they remember to ask us. Or they ask us and then forget.
The doctors and nurses ask my child to eat and that she can’t leave until she does. She sometimes tries and she was given 3 soggy grey fish fingers… nothing else. The adults steak pie had no flavour and the pastry you could throw off a wall it was that hard. She asked for chicken nuggets that was it wet chicken nuggets on a plate nothing else with it.
In the aroma cafe’s, the staff are rude from my experience, it feels as if they don’t want to be there. The adults cafe it a nightmare to get to in the lifts and when you get up aslong as you have had food before 4pm your fine, if your an inpatient there is nothing left. The cafe in the children ward we went to to encourage her to eat, she wanted hot food at 13:40 and was told hot food has stopped and it would take too long to put the machines back on. Useless.
Our main gripe is the wifi, it needs looked at again. We have raised monies for the Hospital and was willing to pay towards helping make it better for kids but it seems to be a security thing which again doesn’t promote wellbeing in children going though such a difficult time.
