"Poor treatment at Gynecology appointment"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill) / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I attended the hospital for an appointment which was to inform me of my options regarding a condition that had been painful and debilitating for some years.

When I was taken to the examination room by the Dr they discussed my symptoms and disregarded my pain. On discussing my options following the U/S which not once was I asked if I was comfortable, even as my legs wobbled and my pain levels rose.

The Dr went on to say I  would be best to get a hysterectomy; after all I had one child and at my age didn’t need my uterus anymore. To say I was disgusted with this approach and treatment, and was made to feel like hysterectomy was my only option, although I knew this not to be true.

I was deeply saddened by my treatment. A bit of compassion and dignity goes a very long way.
