"My health visitor Alyson - Cambuslang"

About: Health Visiting Localities / Rutherglen and Cambuslang

(as a parent/guardian),

I wanted to share the incredible support I’ve received from my health visitor Alyson, who has been a lifeline for both myself and my little boy.

Our start wasn’t an easy one. My little boy struggled with colic, reflux, bottle aversion and feeding difficulties that led to him needing an NG tube. As a first-time mum and doing it on my own, it was an overwhelming time filled with worry and self-doubt. But Alyson was there. She visited us as often as possible, always offering reassurance, guidance and a listening ear. Her consistent presence made a huge difference, especially in those early months when everything felt so uncertain.

I also have ADHD, and Alyson supported me through the diagnosis process. Her understanding and patience helped me make sense of things and, most importantly, feel like I could manage. Thanks to her, I’ve become a more confident parent and a stronger version of myself.

Throughout all the challenges, including concerns I had about Archie’s development, Alyson was calm, compassionate and reassuring. She never dismissed my worries, always responded to my texts and phone calls, and somehow always knew the right thing to say. She shared both professional advice and personal experience, and it never felt like a tick-box exercise. She genuinely cared.

Being a single parent can feel incredibly isolating at times, but Alyson never made me feel like I was going through it alone. Her support has had a lasting impact on both me and my son. I honestly don’t know how we would have got through those tough months without her.

We’re so lucky to have Alyson as our health visitor. She’s truly exceptional and I’ll be forever grateful for everything she’s done for us.
