(as a relative),

My dad unfortunately became unwell and had to attend Wishaw General ED. He was placed in a holding area for over 5 hours on a trolley. He was then moved to room 5 and I have never been so disgusted with the attitudes of the nurses. He was needing attended to so I asked for help. I followed the nurse out the room to my disgust she started talking about my dad and myself to her co workers. On challenging said behaviour I was given a form to complain; No apology given. I didn’t want to leave my dad in the care of these staff.

Dear Catmom,

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your father's recent experience in our Emergency Department at University Hospital Wishaw. I’m truly sorry to hear about the distressing situation you and your father encountered, and I want to acknowledge how upsetting this must have been for you both.

We take all feedback seriously, especially when it relates to the dignity, respect, and quality of care our patients and their families receive. I’m very sorry that you felt let down by the environment, the delay in care, and the behaviour of our staff. This is not the standard we strive to uphold.

I understand that you were given a complaints form to contact our patient affairs department, and I would ask that you contact them directly and formally raise your concerns. This would allow us to look into what happened in more detail and take any necessary steps to address the issues raised.

Thank you again for bringing this to my attention, and please pass on my best wishes to your father.
