"Made the environment warm, welcoming and bright"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Castle Mey Ward Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Play Services

(as a parent/guardian),

A wonderful lady called Katie looked after the playroom at Castle May Ward in Edinburgh’s paediatric hospital at the Royal Infirmary. Our daughter had been admitted a few times in quick succession for a couple of days at a time and the playroom was such a visible source of joy and relaxation for her. It allowed her to just be a little 2-3 year old playing and imagining, and let us see her away from the hospital setting. Katie was kindness personified, she kept the room absolutely spotless and made the environment warm, welcoming and bright for children and parents alike. Thank you very much to Katie and the whole Castle May ward team for all that you did to look after our daughter (and us!)

Dear perseuseh75,

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on this platform. We are always very grateful that people take time out of their busy day to do so.

I am sorry that your daughter has had to spend some time in hospital but I am glad that Katie was able to make her time spent here, that little bit better. I am Katie's line manager and will make sure she sees your lovely comments and I am sure that she too will be very grateful that you posted this.

I hope your daughter is recovering.

Kind rgards

Margaret McEwan
