I have long suspected i had OCD, and during covid my symptoms became much worse. I had a baby during this time and I suspect I also had PPD. One of my children contracted Lyme disease, and this really exacerbated my symptoms.
I did get a referral to mental health (Community Mental Health Services in Uist and Barra), and from that point on my experience was excellent. Gill was exceptional. She helped me to see that the issues I had centred around worrying about my children’s health were actually in my head, and brought me back to reality. I thought everyone in my family was seriously ill, and was very frightened. Gill and the mental health team helped me to recognise that I was unwell, and showed me how to recognise and manage the symptoms of the OCD. I had never had a diagnosis or support for this before, and it was great to get this.
Since this help I have been able to self manage my symptoms and I am really grateful. Gill especially went above and beyond. She checked in on me regularly and made sure that I was feeling myself again, until I was well enough to be discharged. It was exceptionally excellent care and I am really grateful how well and swiftly they dealt with my issues at a frightening time for me.
