"Fantastic care at Bellfield Centre"

When my elderly mother was first admitted to the Thistle Suite in the Bellfield Centre in February following a serious road traffic accident as a pedestrian and after two weeks in hospital already, we weren't sure what the future would hold. She had sustained multiple injuries which had left her cognitively impacted and unable to bear weight for 8 weeks. However, from the moment she arrived in the Thistle Suite it was clear she was in the right place, one that not only provided expert care but did so with warmth and purpose. 

Unlike traditional hospital environments, the Bellfield supports both physical and emotional healing. The atmosphere is therapeutic with comfortable rooms and the overall feeling is of a nurturing community. It's a place where recovery feels not only possible, not expected.

The multi-disciplinary team in the Thistle Suite are the heart of this incredible facility. The kindness, patience and professionalism displayed by each member of staff made a lasting impression on our family. 

What sets the facility apart is the structure and intention behind every aspect of care. From the beginning my mother was not simply seen as a patient, but as a person with potential. Weekly rehabilitation goals were set collaboratively with her, focusing on realistic, yet aspirational milestones that helped build her confidence set by step. These goals weren't generic but were meaningful, tailored and personal. They graduated from being able to sit unaided to being able to walk with a stick by the time she left. The physiotherapist, Jennifer, and the Occupational Therapist, Morgan, led the rehabilitation and I can't thank them enough for their care. 

They didn't just treat injuries, they treated with empathy, humour and genuine care. Even when my mother was at her lowest physically and mentally, she was treated with unwavering respect and dignity. 

The nursing staff and support team were also wonderful; consistently patient, caring and professional. I experienced their kindness every day when I visited. 

Thanks to the Bellfield, my mother made a remarkable recovery that I know wouldn't have happened if she had stayed in traditional hospital or been discharged earlier. 

I wish the accident hadn't happened but I am so very grateful that the Bellfield exists to help people like my mother.
