"Laparoscopy for endometriosis and excision of an endometrioma"

About: Harrogate District Hospital / General surgery Harrogate District Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I had my laparoscopy and excision of a suspected endometrioma on Friday. They found loads of adhesions it said on my paperwork but no endo present in my pelvis and I thought everything went well apart from the surgery being longer than they expected and the induction on my belly button being bigger than it was meant to be (still not sure why) but the surgeons didn’t even come and speak to me I just received a discharge letter with little bits of info on it so just assumed all was fine so after a 3 hour surgery and 2 hours in recovery they sent me home.

I then got back and was in absolute agony and nothing was helping the pain so I ended up, 4 hours later, ringing up to say I was in agony and couldn’t cope and they sent me to a&e to find out that they actually perforated one of my arteries during my endometrioma excision, missed it and then sent me home without really even checking my wounds or how I was feeling so I now have a 6cm hematoma and a blood clot which they only caught because of me going back to a&e and them sending me for a CT scan.

After 3 nights in hospital they’re sending me home to go back in a week and if it hasnt started to break down itself then they’re going to have to intervene but I am genuinely gutted and feeling like rubbish and massively let down by the nhs and tbh I feel traumatised and don’t ever want to go back there again. It’s the fact I was barely checked after my surgery when in recovery, no one looked at my incisions, I was basically rushed out of the door so they could have the bed back as my op ran on longer than expected so I was done by the time the afternoon day surgery patients were turning up, I asked them multiple times if they could send someone up to explain what happened during my surgery and they kept saying yes and then not doing it.

If I’d of stayed at home and just tried to deal with the pain and not gone back, the clot could of travelled anywhere or the bleed could of got out of hand and I might not be here right now…

My question is, what do I do from here? Is this something I should be complaining about?
