Following an accident at her Care Home, my elderly mother, who lives with dementia, was transported to Wishaw General Hospital. It was discovered that she had a fractured hip, that required surgery, sooner rather than later.
She was assigned to Dr Bailey and his team and admitted to Ward 16. Since she is 102 years of age Mr Bailey and his team decided that the least invasive surgery would be to put her through a Gamma Nail procedure. This form of surgery would allow mum to still have mobility and stand a better chance of recovering.
The operation has been a success and mum is now recovering. The care mum was shown by both surgical and ward staff was second to none. The communication was excellent and all procedures and next steps were explained very clearly by the nurse in charge, Gillian.
The whole team involved are a credit to Wishaw General and the NHS, and I cannot sing their praises highly enough. Sincere thanks to you all.
