I was referred to NHS Fife by NHS Lothian to receive a full hip replacement following diagnosis.
I received all information I required to understand the processes involved in my planned care. From the 1st point of contact at the Pre-Assessment Clinic at the NTC, I was amazed at the efficiency, kindness and empathy displayed by all the disciplines involved in the excellent service.Despite undergoing a number of tests throughout the day, all staff were helpful, explaining everything as the tests progressed. My Ortho Consultant, Mr Howard was open, clear and compassionate at all times (and sometimes a comedian)...just to help you get through tests etc!!!! as was Janette the nurse assigned to me.He displayed a high level of understanding and compassion and reassured me, when required. This excellent care approach continued throughout my experience at NTC Fife, including my surgery day where all staff put me at ease.I was introduced to all those involved in my operation and was advised of their role, ANPs, Anaesthetic Staff etc...I was also given time to express any worries/ anxieties I had which were listened to responded to.Post Surgery, I was in the ward area and again, received excellent care from all staff including OT's and Physios, All my needs were met and the team were very patient focused and cheery, which greatly assisted my recovery.Overall a very pleasant experience. This service should be replicated across NHS Scotland and incorporate the practices of all members of this excellent team. Big thank you to you all at NTC Fife X
