(as a service user),

Sudden & Acute Gall Bladder Infection

I have just returned home after having my Badly Infected Gall Bladder removed by Dr Bahli & his team in Altnagelvin Hospital

Since my hospital admittance in late March 25 i have found the Health care that i have received, from all the Doctors ,Nurses & support staff to have been excellent.

At all times i was treated with compassion, care & attention & dignity. When i needed the NHS staff, they were there for me. Myself and my family owe everyone involved in looking after me a massive mound of gratitude.

In Dr Bahli, the Western Trust has a true dedicated, patient centred consultant. He and his team are a credit to your organisation. Words cannot really state how much i would like to thank him personally & also his support team.

Throughout my journey, Dr Bahli was at my side, making all the correct decisions at the right times, so that i would stand the best chance of having the best possible outcome.

Many thanks also to Dr Gillian (radiology Doctor) her precise work with installing drains into my Gall Bladder & lining, was simply amazing. What a Doctor & caring human being she is. Another great asset to the Western Board.

The Nurses & Staff of wards 2,3 & 4 were all incredible. The levels of work, effort & patient care provided was exceptional.

I observed throughout my 15+ days of hospitalisation, many acts of kindness, care & attention to detail, not only for myself but for all the patients around me.

A special mention for Nurses Christina & Abdul on ward 4. They are 2 of the hardest working people i have ever seen in my life.

The level of care, empathy & compassion they showed to all patients was simply incredible. Our hospital is lucky to have Nurses if this calibre, in my opinion, they represent the unsung heros of the local NHS. Personally they made my aprehension, fears & worries, ease. With nurses like that in my ward, my fellow patients and i, knew we were in good hands.

Thank you again to all those who were involved in my care for the past 4 months. I was unlucky to get ill, however very lucky to have all you guys, work together to get me the best possible outcome.

God Bless you all

Hi Bilco10

Thank you for taking the time to post such glowing comments about your recent unexpected hospital stay. I was so pleased to read how all the staff that you came into contact with made such a difference to your experience. Your named "NHS heroes" will take delight in reading your kind words. It is always pleasing for staff to see their efforts and expertise, acknowledged & appreciated. Dr Gillian(Radiology) is indeed an asset to the Western Trust And I will be more than happy to share this feedback with her.

I wish you a speedy recovery

Kind Regards

Joanne McFeely
