"Self explanatory advice"

About: Community Services (Adult Physical Health) / Podiatry

(as the patient),

Had an appointment with a podiatrist regarding my feet as I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes and was advised to self refer.

I felt the original telephone appointment was pointless and condescending. After explaining my symptoms I was advised over the counter medicine and self explanatory advice to care for my feet.

I am suffering various problems with my feet and wanted to see someone to discuss.

I was given one eventually and have now had a diagnosis of aggravated tendonitis that I am being treated for and have to go back in several weeks.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.

We endeavour to correctly triage your referral to allow us to provide you with the correct assessment and treatment you need.

I am sorry that you felt the telephone consultation was pointless and condescending. For many patients this type of assessment with advice is all they need to self manage their condition.

We will take you thoughts into consideration when we review the service going forward and I hope that you see improvement in your condition soon.
