"fantastic support"

About: Countywide Community Care Service Delivery Unit / Community Stroke Service

(as the patient),

I first came into the care of the Community Stroke Team after I returned home from 4 months at Evesham hospital in November 2024.

On my first day at home we had a visit from Michaela the team leader who explained how the service would work and the benefits I would gain.

Everything was explained thoroughly and my wife and I never felt pressured into anything that we may not have needed.

Based on my recovery, condition and needs, a plan was devised for daily visits by occupational and rehabilitation therapists, overseen by Michaela, who would assist with and monitor my daily routine.

From the first visit we had we felt entirely comfortable with all of the staff and never felt they were intruding on our lives.

I was given tasks to perform and exercises to do all intended to aid my recovery from a spinal stroke.

We also had tremendous support from the nurse Rebecca and she helped when we were having difficult days and was always willing to listen and offer advice. This was also true of all the team.

The whole experience with the team and all the individual people were amazing and helped no end in my recovery. So much so that when I was handed over to integrated neurology, I was able to walk using a frame and felt my confidence and outlook had improved immensely.

Overall I had use of the Community Stroke Team for approximately 6 months, and would be confident that anyone in need of the service would get fantastic support.

Thank you to the whole team, and especially those we dealt with personally such as, Michaela, Rebecca, Kat, Meryl, Ryan, Sharon, Jamie, Sandy & Abi!

You all helped myself and my wife to get through this life changing period in our lives.

Hello Rob

What a lovely end to a Friday to receive this! Thank you so much for taking the time to give this lovely and valuable feedback. I do remember team discussions about you as a spinal stroke is rare and to be walking with a frame is an incredible achievement at this stage of your recovery in terms of your initial disability. It must have been a profoundly frightening time for both you and your family. It is lovely to hear that you felt well supported psychologically.

I have forwarded your lovely feedback to the whole team, so all those mentioned will read this and I know it will give them a real morale booster.

Once again, your feedback is really appreciated. Keep moving forward!
