"Severe phobia of needles / blood tests"

About: General practices in Tayside

(as a service user),

I have for years tried to get a blood test however never been able to do so. I have tried medications, therapy and hypnotherapy none of which helped.

I was then prescribed lorazepam which allowed me to get my first ever blood test. Since then I take the lowest dose available when required for a blood test and always have the most friendly nurses which make me relax.

Most recently I had an appointment with Mandy at Coupar Angus Health Centre who was friendly and welcoming and also understood how I was feeling so made me feel as relaxed as I could be.

Dear Tilly20

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your General Practice (GP). Feedback is very valuable to all areas of the NHS, and I'm sure their staff will be delighted to hear that your experience there has been positive. Unfortunately, GP practices are not part of Care Opinion at this time, as each GP Practice is an independent business. So that they can see your feedback, we would recommend that you feedback your experience directly to the practice to allow this to be passed on to the staff. The Practice Manager can give you details of how to provide this feedback to them, as per their Complaints and Feedback Policy.

Kind regards

Susan Anderson
