After attending joint school and then pre op, I wasn't nervous at all as felt I had been given multiple booklets of information and had the opportunity to ask questions.
I had the surgery on a Friday lunchtime at Cannock Chase hospital and was back home 6pm the following day. Having spinal anaesthetic was great as there was no after sickness and although I was awake and could hear the obvious surgical noises, it was not worrying.
The care I received on the wards before, during recovery and after was second to none. At times it was like staying in a 5 star hotel. All staff, regardless of grade, we're extremely helpful, never made you feel you were a burden and they all seemed to get along with each other and enjoying what they were doing. Was an absolute pleasure to have my surgery there.
