"They helped make it a less stressful experience"

About: Borders General Hospital / Paediatrics (Ward 15)

(as a parent/guardian),

Fortunate to have 2 great nurses called Joanne and Rachel looking after my son. He has very complex needs. They were great at explaining things,  giving him time and space to process  stuff and helped keep him as calm as possible during a medical procedure under sedation. They ensured he was in a safe environment and had made adaptions to accommodate this.

The ward's play therapist was also really kind, finding specific sensory based toys  for us  whilst we were waiting for the doctors.

They helped make it a less stressful experience for him and also dad.

Thank you ASNParent for taking the time to feed back to us.

I am delighted to hear your son had such a positive experience within Ward 15. It can be challenging and frightening for children coming into hospital at the best of times but certainly more difficult for children with complex needs.

I am delighted to hear he was given the space and time he needed to process the surroundings which seems to have helped him cope with his procedure.

I will share your very kind words with the staff, they will be delighted and so important to hear that they have made the difference to you as a family.

Kind Regards

Claire
