"Outstanding End of Life Care"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Critical Care Unit / Medical High Dependancy Unit

(as a relative),

My Dad was taken to hospital & I had previously completed a care opinion on the Ambulance staff & A&E staff who provided excellent care.

Unfortunately, Dad didn't improve and was moved to the High Dependency Unit. We were compassionately told it was now end of life care.

Over the next 24 hours, Dad was given outstanding care & attention, gentle & compassionate personal care and the support my family felt from the team was second to none.

Our family is huge & siblings travelled from all over to be there on time. We appreciated the understanding of staff who allowed us all in to be there. I am grateful for medical staff who arranged a bed & shower for some relatives & made sure my Mum had tea & toast, as we sat by dad's beside the whole time.

All staff were incredible, but a special mention has to go to Lawrence, Sau, Wendy, Rebecca & Kathleen. You are all credits to your profession.

Thank you for allowing my dad to die with dignity, and for the absolute privilege of allowing his family to be with him all the time.

Thank you for ensuring he was never in pain & always comfortable.

Thank you for getting a priest asap to give Dad his last rights.

Thank you for allowing us special time afterwards when he had passed and for setting his room up beautifully peaceful & calm.

The job you all do is amazing, as family we see the pressures you are all under and can only say you will all be rewarded in heaven for your incredible work and passion for your patients and their families. I hope you all know how grateful we are that Dad's last days were in that ward with such amazing staff & true, genuine care.

Rebecca, you changed the whole mood of the room, you were so calm and incredibly knowledgeable, we were able to just be with Dad and not worry about anything. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
