"Repeated Operation Cancellations"

I am beyond disappointed with the department as due to a dental mishap during a routine procedure back in October 2024 I was meant to receive an operation to remove part of a palatal root from within my face within 3 months as I was told I was urgent/of priority within that time scale (the current wait times as detailed online are 3 months for urgent, 39 weeks for routine) both of which I have surpassed.

I have had 3 failed attempts with dates, one being at Stracathro which I have never been suitable for for any procedure in the first place which to my knowledge has been documented within my personal notes  - and then 2 cancellation slots offered within the ARI - one which I was called at 8am on the day to be in for 9am and after calling off at work and requiring someone else to also do at short notice it was then cancelled not even 30 minutes later due to an emergency. 

I understand emergencies happen and can impact those coming in for daycase procedures but it has just happened again after being offered an appointment, to then be told it is cancelled again after clarifying the previous day that it would more than likely go ahead as again I had to inform my work and so did the person who would be with me after due to it being under a general anaesthetic.

This is completely unacceptable to continue doing to someone who has waited almost a year - I am just expected to take painkillers and wait for an appointment for a procedure that is continuously cancelled due to no fault of my own.

The wait times have been exceeded and I was also told emergencies cannot be helped (understandable and not once disputed) but that they basically do not have the staff to deal with the need of those in the health board.

Something has to be done as it is unacceptable to leave patients in pain and distress with no resolve  - other than just told to enjoy the game of waiting for disappointment.
