"My MRI Head Scan"

I attended my MRI Head appointment recently at the Mobile unit at Woodend Hospital, Aberdeen. I have been there before and service has been excellent. However, this time I felt as if I was an animal.

The staff member who got me to lie down on the unit did not seem to care. I told them my head was too low and my neck is in pain even before they started the scan and I was told that there is nothing they can do about it - which is not true as I have been there before.

Everything was done in a hurry. I felt they just wanted the appointment done with so they could get away as my appointment was at 5pm.

Either the machine is not fit for purpose or this member of staff should be trained again. I believe if it was an elderly person, they would not have been able to go through the whole scan for sure.

Thank you for sharing your experience on the MRI Mobile Unit based at Woodend Hospital. I am very sorry to read that the service you received was unsatisfactory and that you felt your appointment was rushed and not of the standard you have previously experienced. We expect the level of care provided on the Mobile Unit to be of the same standard as we would strive to provide when attending an appointment for a scan on one of the NHS Grampian scanners. I am sorry that on this occasion this was not the case.

Your feedback, as published on Care Opinion, will be shared with the Operations Manager responsible for the radiography team on the Mobile Unit. However, in order to address your concerns thoroughly I would like to discuss your experience with the radiographers involved. To do this, I need to obtain a few more details from you.
