"Community Pharmacy Hub & GP"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire

(as a service user),

12 months ago, we found out I had low ft4 levels with a normal Tsh. I was advised that my thyroid "was likely on the way out" by my gp surgery however they weren't going to treat just yet. Monitoring of bloods every 3-6months. It remained low, therefore I sought out the help of a private GP who was willing to help.

My symptoms are now stable levels normalised and i am now expecting however my gp surgery and my Community Pharmacy Hub are refusing to prescribe levothyroxine for me. No one has spoken to me to give me a reason as to why I wont be prescribed it. It is causing me an undue amount of distress as i dont have enough medication to see me through the weekend. I dont know how detrimental this could be to me or my pregnancy.

I intend to raise a formal complaint with NHS Lanarkshire regarding this. I understand GPs are independent and community pharmacy hubs are part of CTAC/PCIP but Zero communication is unacceptable!!!!

Dear waterpk35,

I am sorry you are experienceing this situation & that it is causing you an undue amount of distress.

Unfortunately, GP surgeries are independent contractors and as such, are not registered to respond on Care Opinion but are responsible for investigating any feedback or concerns about their service. Please could I ask that you contact the practice manager so they can investigate your concerns regarding getting through to the surgery on the phone.

Kind Regards,

Christine
