"Lack of empathy"

About: Essex House Medical Centre, Chard

(as the patient),

I attended with back pain and it was severe, painful and preventing me from doing my normal activities. I was in a lot of discomfort.

I saw a GP, who I found blunt. They informed me I was fat, and asked me why I was surprised I had back pain.

I felt dismissed, I knew I was overweight, I had been exercising, and if they had given me chance to explain, I could have told them I had lost 1 and a half stone prior to this injury happening.

I was sent away with a non-urgent physio appointment, which accounted to 6 weeks waiting to be seen. I ended up in A&E, and a MRI showed I had a bulging disc. They gave me painkillers and physio and I am back to exercising again.

Where is the holistic care? Just because I am fat, not all fat people have back pain, and I didn't have it before I lost weight, so maybe I should have stayed fatter and not been in pain.
