"Nursing care following hip replacement operation"

About: Wycombe Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

Soaring temperatures in excess of 30 degrees, incredibly busy wards and no air conditioning. In spite of appalling heat and totally inadequate cooling provision( cheap noisy fans) the staff were cheerful, unfailingly helpful and extremely competent. Did all they could to mitigate against the heat and were most attentive. How they kept on going was truly remarkable and I am in awe of their sense of service and level of care. Having worked in the public sector my whole career I know we don’t enter public service for the money but out of a sense of wanting to make a difference.

The people I met in Wycombe Hospital on Ward B  deserve the highest respect and better remuneration and we should be proud that individuals from all over the world want to work in the NHS.
