"Frozen shoulder - GP in house Physio"

About: General practices in Ayrshire & Arran

(as the patient),

I had right shoulder pain since December 2024 which I left thinking it would get better on its own, however it just got increasingly worse to the point I had very limited movement and was constantly miserable due the the pain.

I’d visited my GP, who referred me for an X-ray and prescribed painkillers but they did nothing for me. I was also on the waiting list to see a physio but knew that was going to take months.

I was then offered an appointment with a physio in the surgery who is there 2 days a week and at this appointment I was given a Corticosteroid injection into my shoulder and regular exercises with a follow up in 6 weeks. I felt immediate relief and could actually move my arm without pain for the 1st time in months so I was able to continue with the exercises to build the strength back up.

At my follow-up I did not require a 2nd injection and although I do not have full movement I no no longer have the pain. I will continue with the exercises given in the hope that this helps.

Dear aquilakd38

Thank you so much for taking the time to share feedback on your healthcare experience.

I am really pleased to hear that the Physiotherapist in your GP Practice has been able to provide you with such person centred care and that the corticosteroid injection and exercises suggested have provided some relief for your shoulder pain.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and if you would like me to pass your lovely comments to the physiotherapist who you saw, can you please email the name of the practice (we can do so anonymously if you prefer), to HSCPAdmin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experience and I wish you well on your recovery.

Kind Regards

Pamela
