"Cancer Treatment"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Medical Oncology

(as a service user),

Absolutely first class treatment, communication and advice from NHS Fife. My treatment finished today after 2.5 years of treatment. I am now cancer free.

All involved were committed, empathetic and friendly. I never once felt neglected or isolated. They have literally given me my life back.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Dear jim2349

My name is Murdina MacDonald and I am the Lead Cancer Nurse. Thank you for sharing your experience of care. On behalf of the entire team here at NHS Fife, I want to say how moved we are by your message. To hear that you felt supported, listened to, and cared for throughout your 2.5-year journey and that you now stand cancer free is the very reason we do what we do.

Your strength, resilience, and trust in us have been remarkable. It’s been our privilege to walk alongside you, and we’re truly honoured to have played a part in helping you.

Please know that your feedback means the world to our staff from consultants and nurses to AHPs and support teams. It reminds us that compassion, communication, and connection are just as vital as clinical care.

Wishing you continued health and all the joy that comes with this new chapter.

With heartfelt thanks and Warm Wishes,

Murdina

Update posted by Jim2349 (a service user)

Good morning,

I did not expect a response and this only reinforces the care and empathy provided throughout my cancer treatment journey.

My whole family are ecstatic and we are embarking on my first vacation to create a new future which without your skill and expertise would not be possible.

My family gave me a telling off for not mentioning them in my original post as they have been with me every step.

On behalf of my entire family I wish you all the very best and I think about you all daily as I face a chapter that is all down to you.

Our eternal thanks and gratitude,

Dear Jim 2349,

I am delighted to hear that you and your family are preparing for your first holiday and trust you will all have a wonderful time together.

As for your family’s “telling off” well, that says everything about how closely they’ve walked with you. Cancer never just touches one person. It weaves itself into every conversation, every plan, every quiet moment. And the strength they’ve shown and the love you so clearly share is wonderful

None of us forget the people we care for. So to know we’ve made a difference, and that you carry us in your thoughts as you take your next steps that means more than we can express.

Wishing you all the very best
On behalf of all the team

Warm Regards

Murdina
