"Future is looking brighter"

About: Arnold Lodge Regional Secure Unit

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Hi,

I am an in patient at Arnold Lodge on the male mental illness ward.
I would like to thank you all at the CQC for inviting me and my peer to your away day to do our presentation on Ward Round and CPA Training, a co-product project i was involved. I think it went really well and was happy to do it. I hope we explained it well enough and got across what we were presenting. Hopefully we reached some listening ears in the room. It was also nice to attend and meet you all. I am so glad we has a chance to ask some much needed questions that you gave some positive feedback. I think the future is looking brighter for us, now i can see the system does care and there is some good people in management supporting us along the way with our care and mental health background which is pleasing to know.

I would like to say thank you again CQC for the opportunity you gave me and hopefully look forward to more in the future. I would also like to thank Mo, Michelle, Natasha for facilitating this opportunity. Also without the opportunity Mo gave me at Arnold Lodge to do this course, I would not have been able to present this presentation to you all. Many thanks and your sincerely.

This is the first time that any patients have been able to present to the CQC national MH team and it was an awesome pleasure and privilege to support you and your colleague to speak your truth and share with the CQC.

We hope that the questions you posed will provide food for thought and help to generate positive change.

Thanks for your contributions to the service, they are valued.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful message and for sharing your feedback on the CQC Away Day. l believe your presentation was insightful, engaging, and clearly delivered with passion and purpose.

l want to think that you absolutely got your message across—your lived experience and co-production journey. The questions you raised and the perspectives you shared were invaluable, should attract great responses given your openness and honesty. This definitely is important in shaping better services, building trust and better understanding.

Thank you again for your contribution. We’re looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future—you’re making a real difference
