Thanks to the excellent publicity we see all over Highland region with respect to the risks of tick bites being a source of Lime Disease, I recognised the signs of such a bite on my arm but it was a Sunday with no GP available, so felt guilty about going to Aberdeen ARI A&E, but did so.
I could not have received a more warm, friendly, professional and kind reception anywhere. The Reception staff were apologetic the wait would be so long (four hours, I didn't mind, they were so busy) and the looping video provided constant reminders of wait times and, in the end, it was three hours not four.
The triage nurse was lovely; she assessed me and found a tick. I was asked to wait for a Minor Injuries Nurse to become available and, within minutes, I was in the care of Afric.
Afric was professional, chatty and diligent all at the same time and removed two ticks (no pun intended!) then made sure I left with all the necessary antibiotics to further mitigate the risk of me developing Lime Disease and assured me she would write to my NHS Highland GP, to whom I shall report in three weeks' time.
A sincere thank you to Grampian NHS and all at Aberdeen ARI, particularly Afric.
"A sincere 'Thank You': Superb professionalism from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary"
