"Awful experience"

About: Lymington New Forest Hospital / Radiology

(as a service user),

My wife went in for an MRI and the staff we encountered were rude, unsympathetic, no humanity whatsoever… barking orders, rushing her and just acting like they didn’t want to be there.

My wife has been for multiple MRI scans and has never been made to feel this way before.

The staff using such comments and expressions such as that they should just call it a day, or that they'd put down in her notes that she was unwilling to have the scan done. There were also tutting noises and groaning noises being made.

My wife leaving in tears…

Firstly, I'm very sorry that your wife had this experience. Please do accept my apologies on behalf of the MRI team.

Our department takes pride in providing a caring and highly skilled patient experience.

I will remind all team members of their professional and customer care skills, regardless of current pressure in demand on imaging capacity.

This will be a learning outcome and reminder for the whole team, with refresher training on good communication and customer skills.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with,

With best wishes,

MRI/CT Lead Radiographer
