Year of Diabetes Diagnosis: 2007
Initial Contact:
At the time, my GP advised me to reach out to the diabetic nursing team at FVRH for guidance and a review of my medication and insulin regimen. I followed this advice and received a response from Toria, who kindly offered me a face-to-face appointment in January 2023.
At that point, I was taking a daily dose of 270 + units of insulin, along with four Metformin and four Gliclazide tablets daily. I was also experiencing complications
Ongoing Support and Impact:
Between January 2023 and June 2025, I experienced a remarkable transformation in my diabetes management, thanks entirely to the support and care provided by my Diabetes Advanced Practitioner “cheerleader,” Toria.
HbA1c : Decreased by nearly half
Weight : Decreased by 5.5 stone and continuing to do so
Insulin : Decreased from 270+ Units per day to 1 Tirzepatide injection weekly
BMI : Decreased by 12
While she humbly insists that she only provided the tools and I did the work, the truth is that no one in the previous 15 years had empowered me in the way she did. Before meeting Toria, I felt defeated and hopeless about my condition.
Her care didn’t just improve my quality of life—it truly saved and extended it. I was heartbroken to learn that she would be leaving the service, and I want to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for everything she has done for me.
"Deepest gratitude and admiration for everything"
