"Kind, professional, and incredibly supportive"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

I had a hip replacement at National Treatment Centre - Fife Orthopaedics in May and want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in my care.

From the very first appointment through to the day I went home, every member of staff I encountered (pre-assessment team, consultant, check-in nurses, surgical team, porters, therapists, ward nurses) and was kind, professional, and incredibly supportive.

I find hospitals quite overwhelming and was very nervous throughout, but staff went out of their way to put me at ease. They took the time to talk to me, comfort me, and answer my questions, even when things were clearly busy. That care and compassion made a real difference to my experience.

The ward nurses after surgery were fantastic, always on hand to help, reassure, and kept the all important ice packs coming. I was also really grateful not to be rushed out, and was supported to stay until I felt confident and able to manage stairs safely.

I can’t thank the team enough for the outstanding care I received, it truly was exceptional.

Dear avocetyj48,

My name is Aileen and I am the Charge Nurse within the National Treatment Ward. I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with the NTC.

Feedback allows the team to either celebrate good aspects of care or make any adjustments to improve our service.

It is wonderful to read that you felt the whole team were kind, professional and supportive and helped to put your mind at ease during your hip operation procedure.

I am glad you felt that the nurses were on hand to help you during your recovery period, and helped support you until you were confident to be discharged home.

Wishing you the very best with your ongoing recovery,

Take care,

Aileen
