"Fantastic care"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Having never visited Grantham hospital, I was very apprehensive when I was sent an appointment for a surgical procedure that required a general anaesthetic at this hospital.

When I arrived I was made to feel very welcome and shown to my bed. I was introduced to my nurse, lovely Mary, and very quickly introduced to my anaesthetist and surgeon. Both very lovely smiley medics and the anaesthetist had a brilliant sense of humour and both took time to answer questions I had.

I was very much at ease by the time I was collected by the theatre staff. Who was also super. She chatted to me all the way to the theatre suite and continued her care while I was waiting to go through to anaesthetist. Scrub nurse came out to introduce himself who was also lovely and chatty and by the time I was on the bed having the anaesthetic to put me to sleep all my nerves and apprehension had completely gone.

The fantastic care continued from the moment I woke up from the anaesthetic until I was discharged in the afternoon. The next day, I received a telephone call from the surgical ward to enquire how I was feeling. This has never happened before from any other hospital.

If I ever have to have another procedure I will definitely be requesting Grantham hospital Lincolnshire.
