"Outstanding care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I attended A&E recently with central chest pain and shortness of breath.

I honestly can’t put into words the gratitude, respect and praise I have for the staff who looked after me.

I feel so blessed to have experienced such outstanding care from truly beautiful souls - from the Health care assistants, porters, student nurse, nurses, radiologists, student radiologists and doctors - you are all angels on earth to be able to provide such incredible care under such pressure.

From the moment I arrived I was met with nothing but genuine care, compassion, empathy, kindness, respect and professionalism.

Within an hour of me being there I had an ECG, chest x-ray, bloods taken and line put in as well as regular BP monitoring by the beautiful student nurse (I wish I got her name). I realise my symptoms needed that quick attention but it was so busy and the staff attended to me with such calmness as if I was the only patient that mattered (that is how it felt) especially the doctors who took time to reassure and explain and provide reassurance when I got a little overwhelmed and upset.

To Tara, the healthcare assistant who carried out my ECG, bloods and put my line in, you are a credit to this establishment. Your empathy and real care shine through - keep smiling.

I wish I got all the other professionals who looked after me, but massive thanks and gratitude to each of you.

You are a credit to our NHS.
