"Fantastic care from all the staff"

To the incredible team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, and the medication team,

From the deepest part of my heart, I want to thank you for holding my hand and guiding me through what were undeniably the toughest few days of my life. There were moments, truly, when I felt like a complete mess, consumed by pain, and genuinely believed I wouldn't make it out of the hospital. Your presence and expertise pulled me through.

Mr. Budd and Beatrice, you were simply fantastic. Not only did the operation go incredibly well, but your thoughtfulness in considering the incision on my neck, ensuring it wouldn't leave an awful scar, meant more to me than words can say. Your follow-up care was exceptional; you both patiently took the time to answer every single one of my questions during rounds and made sure I was completely at ease before my outpatient appointment and my follow-up. That level of dedicated care truly made a difference.

My deepest appreciation also goes to Donna and Katie on the Dyball Ward. Your invaluable assistance in navigating my medication issues was nothing short of life-changing. I distinctly remember the frustration of not even tolerating saline through my IV drip, and your persistence in uncovering my morphine allergy, coupled with your incredible patience as you meticulously worked through it, means the absolute world to me. You truly went above and beyond.

With no sleep for two and a half days and pain levels that were off the chart, I know I wasn't at my best. I don't think any of you could have guessed the extent of the post-operative complications, even with my underlying conditions. They compounded the expected pain from the operation, and I truly struggled to cope. I feel incredibly lucky and blessed to have received such wonderful, compassionate care from each and every one of you.

I also want to express my deepest gratitude for the immense support you offered my husband. Knowing you were there for him, providing answers and so much comfort when he needed it most, means more than you can imagine. It broke my heart to see him so distressed, knowing how much he worried about me and longed for my pain to subside. Your kindness extended to him, and that truly touched us both.

We will both miss you all, and we feel so incredibly fortunate to have met such dedicated, caring individuals. Please know that you all made a profound difference to both myself and my husband. We will never, ever forget the extraordinary care and patience you showed myself and my husband.
