"Exceptional care, compassion, and urgency"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma Assessment Unit

(as a relative),

Niamh- Trauma Liaison officer Wishaw General

On behalf of our entire family, I would like to extend our deepest thanks for the exceptional care, compassion, and urgency you showed to my husband.

After my husband was discharged with what we later discovered was a life-threatening condition, we were left extremely distressed—particularly after he suffered a fall following his discharge, which could have resulted in devastating consequences. It was a deeply worrying and confusing time for our family.

When our daughter contacted Niamh, she was nothing short of fantastic. She immediately arranged an emergency scan at another hospital, and throughout the day she stayed in constant contact, responding to our calls with kindness and urgency. She chased up scan results, facilitated communication with the medical team, and ultimately ensured my husband received the emergency spinal surgery he urgently needed.

Her actions quite literally changed the course of events that day, and for that, we are so grateful. Among all the staff we encountered during those difficult two days, she stood out as the only one who made us feel heard, supported, and cared for. She treated my husband not just as a patient, but as a person. She assured us we could reach out to her anytime and even shared her finishing time to make sure we could still contact you if needed.

We cannot thank her enough for her professionalism, her empathy, and her relentless efforts on my husband's behalf. She went above and beyond, and we are incredibly thankful.
