"Her empathy and understanding made a world of difference to us"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as the patient),

We would like to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to Charge Nurse Elaine at Ward 64 of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for the outstanding care she provided to my husband during his recent stay.

My husband was admitted for emergency spinal surgery, and from the moment he arrived on the ward, Elaine’s compassion, professionalism, and dedication shone through. She was genuinely shocked at the lack of appropriate care he had received prior to his transfer, and she immediately took it upon herself to ensure everything was properly sorted for him.

Elaine not only cared for my husband with exceptional attention and kindness, but also supported us as a family during an extremely stressful time. Her empathy and understanding made a world of difference to us.

A particular moment that truly touched us was when my husband's phone broke during his stay, and Elaine went out of her way to bring the ward phone to him so that we could stay in touch. That simple but deeply thoughtful act meant so much, and is a true reflection of the kind of nurse Elaine is—going above and beyond, always putting patients and families first.

We feel incredibly fortunate that Elaine was there for my husband, and we believe her exceptional care deserves to be recognised.

Thank you so much, Elaine. You made a difficult time more bearable, and your care and kindness will never be forgotten.

Dear puppisfx85

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your kind and detailed feedback following your husband’s recent stay on Ward 64 of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

We are truly moved by your words, and we are so pleased to hear that Charge Nurse Elaine provided such outstanding care and support to both your husband and your family during what must have been an incredibly difficult and stressful time.

Elaine’s compassion, professionalism, and dedication clearly made a lasting impression, and your story is a powerful reminder of the difference that individual staff members can make. The thoughtful act of bringing the ward phone to your husband so he could stay in touch is just one example of how Elaine consistently goes above and beyond to ensure patients feel supported and cared for — both medically and emotionally.

Please be assured that we will share your message with Elaine and the wider team. Recognition such as this means a great deal to our staff and reinforces the values we strive to uphold every day.

On behalf of all of us, thank you once again for your heartfelt words. We send our very best wishes to you and your husband.

Kind regards

Kevin
