"She put us both at ease"

About: Community Services (Adult Physical Health) / Respiratory and Home Oxygen Service Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

My husband has been wobbly lately and had a couple of falls lately. Wouldnt hear of medical attention.

Sunday had to call ambulance as he was having intermittent chest pains didn't look well. Ambulance did ECG which showed no heart attack but his sats were only 84 and 86 and even though he would normally be in the 90s they weren't concerned and didn't advise him to go to hospital and basically gave him the choice . They also said his heart showed a branch bundle block that hasn't been diagnosed previously .I was given a copy of ECG and said I would contact gp Monday for appointment.

Monday am 8.15 I finished the request on the app .It disappeared and said all appointments for the day had been allocated .There was no way to enter anything as the service was closed. If you ring it tells you to use the app .

I was getting more worried and rang home oxygen team. Spoke to Dawn and she explained a nurse would come out to do his blood gases and reasess his oxygen needs and someone would call me. Soon after Penny (I think,) called and arranged a visit next morning after discussing what had happened. She is a lovely lady and put us both at ease and explained what she was doing and fully answered any questions we had and also checked blood pressure as well as 2 gas tests.

It established my husband needs his Oxygen intake put up and further visit to see if he could tolerate another increase .

This really put my mind at rest and my hubby who doesn't like to make a fuss was also very pleased with the visit. She was very professional and also put my husband at ease. Friendly and caring we can't praise her enough !

Thank you so much for giving us feedback on your experience with the service. I am so glad that you reached out to us and that we were able to make some changes to ensure that your husband was receiving the best care on offer.

We try to keep the patient at the heart of what we do and it is always a pleasure to help.

I will ensure that I pass on your feedback to Penny.

Thank you again
