"Porter Support"

About: Victoria Hospital (Kirkcaldy)

(as a service user),

Following a diagnostic test, I was waiting to be collected by a porter. Another patient who had come after me, was then collected by a porter. They told the receptionist that they would just take her back and the receptionist agreed to remove her name from the list of people waiting. I understand on occasions there may be clinical needs but it felt inappropriate and not based on clinical need, given the porter made the decision. Also if not always, certainly most of the time when I have been in this area patients have been taken back in order of when they have been brought to the waiting area.

Dear bravoxe73,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your recent diagnostic test. I’m sorry to hear that the situation left you feeling uncomfortable and that the process did not appear to follow the usual order of patient collection.

I understand how important it is for patients to feel that procedures are fair and based on clinical need.

I will forward your feedback to the appropriate team to ensure it is reviewed and considered. Your observations are valuable in helping us maintain and improve the quality of care and service we provide.

Thank you,

Kind Regards

Michelle Blacklock
