"Deep Gratitude"

About: North West Cancer Centre / Oncology and Haematology inpatient (Ward 50)

(as the patient),

Last year I faced one of the most difficult challenges of my life when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and began chemotherapy. It was a physically and emotionally overwhelming time. One that tested my strength in ways I never imagined. However during that difficult time I was fortunate to meet Nurse Lisa, Triage Team Ward 50, Altnagelvin Area Hospital.

From the very first phone call one Saturday morning, her deep empathy and understanding was evident . She listened, she recognised I was struggling. She never rushed a conversation, never dismissed a worry. She always made time to answer my concerns with clarity and kindness. When I felt lost she brought calm and hope with her knowledge and expertise. Her professionalism was outstanding, but it was her genuine warmth and humanity that left the deepest impact.

Nurse Lisa also worked seamlessly with Dr. Finnerty, whose medical expertise and calm reassurance gave me so much confidence in my care. Together, combining their professionalism, their clinical excellence along with heartfelt compassion was completely reassuring. Their communication, mutual respect, and shared commitment to my well-being created an environment where I felt not just treated, but truly cared for.

It's hard to find the words to express the depth of my gratitude, but I hope this small tribute helps reflect just how important Nurse Lisa and Dr. Finnerty were to my healing journey. My family and I will never forget your support.

Thank you for making one of the hardest times of my life more bearable — and for being the kind of caregivers who restore faith, strength, and hope when it's needed most.
