During my therapy I was asked if I needed employment support, which I was not sure about but I said yes because I wanted to accept the help.
When I first met Connie I was happy with her knowledge of how to help me. I have qualifications from my home country and was not sure of how they can be used in England. Connie gave me information about ECCTIS and help for overseas health workers which I found very helpful. I was scared that my studies would not help me to find a job in this country and I did not understand how to explain my qualifications and work experience. She helped me to create a CV and write supporting statements for NHS jobs. She also gave details of contacts for NHS managers where I could contact for volunteer opportunities.
Connie also helped me to find courses to help my English, and I joined classes in functional skills at Doncaster college and am happy with the progress. I also used some information she sent about community groups in Doncaster to volunteer and make friends with people which has helped my confidence and my language even more.
I have not found a job that is the same as my job at home but I have found a job that makes me happy and makes me feel part of a team and my mental health is better and I feel less like I’m alone.
I am thankful that I do not need support anymore but will miss the help Connie has given me. I wish for more people to have this help.
