"Arterial bleed"

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital / Accident and emergency Royal Surrey County Hospital / Plastic surgery South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

Lizzie and Luke (paramedics from Chertsey) arrived around midnight, in response to 999 call 10:30pm. Brilliant, staunched blood flow from site of skin graft following bcc removal on lhs temple at Cobham daycare Hosp.

Stabilised with pressure bandages, I was transported to A&E at Guildford. Further examination, new pressure bandages and transferred to Majors, morning visit by doctor and adrenilin gauze applied by nurse Syril brilliant.

During discussions as to next step, arterial bleed occurred and now know why beds have rubber bumpers; rushed into resus. Long story short, artery clamped cheering from 14 or so onlookers (in scrubs). Alvind (max facial surgeon) and Sister Pauline cauterised, stitched artery.

I am so grateful to all involved
