"My husband's treatment"

My husband is in his 50s and has PCA dementia.

He unfortunately took a seizure and ended spending 5 1/5 weeks at Monklands Hospital.

He spent 12 hours in accident and emergency and was then moved to medical receiving ward.  I left him there at 8pm  and returned at 12pm next day.  I was upset how I found him, wet with urine and trying to get out the bed, they had sat him straight up in which he just looked shocking as both his legs were dangling out the bed.  Had to get someone to come and change him.

He was then moved to AMRW later that afternoon, very nice staff in this ward helped my husband settle into this ward quickly and made him comfortable immediately.

He was then moved to ward 7.  All the staff in this ward were outstanding in caring for him as he was in there for 5 1/5 weeks.  One of the nurses spoke to the ward sister and asked if our wee dog could come into the ward to visit my husband, they allowed this twice and this definitely cheered my husband up. 

Outstanding care from all the staff in ward 7.  He would get himself agitated when I was leaving and a member of staff would sit with him until he had settled.  I personally felt comfortable leaving my husband in this ward with all the caring and kind staff.  At times they were very short staffed, but always took the time to come say hello and have a chat.
