"Coping with Atrial Fibrillation and it's effect"

About: Community Services (Adult Physical Health) / Cardiac Rehabilitation Physiotherapy

(as a service user),

I was struggling with the impact of going into AF without warning and finding it difficult to not panic. I was introduced to counselling and during the sessions my counsellor gave me some advice about mindfulness and coping with stress.

She referred me to the cardiac team for further help and they have taken over supporting me with my condition and givng me good advice. They put me on a 6 week course of Tai Chi lessons and although I struggled a bit with it due to other health conditions.

Claire gave me guidance for doing the exercises sat down. The discussions around meditation, breathing and mindfulness helped me to feel that I am on the right track going forward. I am really grateful for the opportunity to attend the sessions with Claire and also for Liz who has told me that she is there if ever in need help which is very reassuring

Thank you for your feedback, this has been a group that has recently been set back up so it is great to receive such positive feedback about it! I am so pleased you found it so helpful and will pass on your words to Claire and also to Liz. Wishing you well for the future and managing your condition.
