"Instilled enormous confidence"

About: Integrated Community Services Service Delivery Unit / City Side Neighbourhood Team

(as a relative),

The District Nursing Team from when they walked through the door on day one instilled enourmous confidence in the care that was going to be delivered. Myself, my brother's partner and my father were enveloped into their care and were there every time we requested and additional call. My brothers pain level escalated on one of the days and with the support of St Richards and incredible perseverance the situation was resolved.

The evening before my brother lost his battle with cancer one of the district nursing team suggested repositioning my brother. This action closed my brothers mouth, he breathed through his nose and quietened. This enabled my brother to sleep well and we as a family were able to sleep to prepare us for a peaceful end. Thank you all!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond with that heartfelt story. I am so sorry to hear about your brother, but take enormous pride in the fact that the team were able to support you at such a difficult time in your lives.

We only get one chance with palliative care to get it right- and we make it a priority in our team to ensure we deliver the best palliative care possible for our patients. It is wonderful to read that we got it right for your brother and you as a family.

Take care of yourselves.
