"Wonderful care and attention"

About: General Surgery / Surgical Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

At the start of July we took our son, who has Downs Syndrome to Stracathro Hospital for dental treatment. From the moment we entered the reception we were welcomed by a nurse with a warm welcome and big smile. We were led to a side ward where our son was assessed and made ready for surgery.  Special thanks to all the nurses who came in and started the procedure. We met both the anaesthetists who explained what would happen regarding our son's teeth extractions. Again the warm welcome and explanations at all times was very reassuring. After the operation was done we were asked to come along to recovery - where our son was being comforted by a very empathetic and understanding nurse called Emma who talked us through the symptoms/reactions after a G.A.

Soon we were back to the room, more checks, more reassurance, another visit from the Anaesthetist and nurses.  Our son (and his parents) :) left reassured that all was well.  The nurses who had looked after him made a special effort to say "cheerio" and we left very(!) happy with the wonderful care and attention we received at Ward 10.  Hugh thanks. We should never take the NHS for granted.

Kind Regards
