"I felt embarrassed & silly"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Women's outpatient clinics and investigations Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Xrays & Scans

(as the patient),

I was referred to the X-Ray Dept for an external ultrasound after having an internal one. On that occasion the doctor stated, rudely, that they could not clearly see my ovaries due to too much bowel activity, which appeared to be irritating them. I might add the nurse who held my hand was brilliant.

I then tried to attend my ultrasound appt a few weeks later at the X-Ray Dept however on arrival at the hospital my full bladder was causing so much discomfort I had to relieve it. I then went to the dept to apologise for not being able to attend, I was upset & this would have been clear to the receptionist. I felt embarrassed & silly. The person on reception couldn’t have cared less and said they'd tell them I'd came. I felt they could not get me away from the desk fast enough as I was attempting to explain. There was another member of staff sitting behind the receptionist watching me try to explain, but they didn’t speak or try to reassure me either, I felt so awkward. Met with total disinterest.

After having mostly good experiences with family members at this hospital, I am really disappointed.
