"It was a horrible experience"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I have visited the A&E of Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton on an afternoon early July 2025  with an emergency related to STD and was referred to a staff member for a personal discussion and unfortunately this was the worst experience I ever had related to leaking and not protecting the confidentiality of Patients. The staff member left the door behind them open which connects the room to the back hospital and was asking very sensitive questions in a very loud voice while other doctors and nurses where working behind them.

It was a horrible experience. I started stuttering and was not comfortable at all. Finally, they saw the issue as not an emergency so was very rude and used humiliating words like go out and off you go. I really felt like a dog sitting inside.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us following your recent visit to the Emergency Department at Musgrove Park Hospital.

We would first like to say how truly sorry we are for the distress you have experienced during this visit and would like to acknowledge how difficult and emotional this must have been for you. We most certainly do not wish for any patient to feel uncomfortable when discussing the reason for their visit or to feel humiliated.

Please be assured your comments will be shared with the senior team in the Emergency Department for feedback and learning so other patient's in a similar situation do not have to go through the same experience.
