I had an abnormal smear which showed HR HPV and high grade severe dyskaryosis. Within a day of my results I had been contacted by Lincoln Hospital Gynaecology department and had an appointment for a colposcopy 8 days later.
The team were amazing on the day as I felt very nervous. After a 5 week wait for the biopsy result I had a call from the nurse colposcopist that had carried out the procedure, she explained the result to me carefully. I had CIN3 and high grade CGIN and a tiny area of stage IA1 cancer had also been removed. I also needed to undergo the procedure again as the CIN3 extended to one edge of the biopsy.
I attended Lincoln hospital for the second procedure 17days later and was seen by the consultant. I was less anxious this time! I am awaiting my biopsy results. Just over 8 weeks from receiving the smear result I have had the procedure twice. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the screening programme that we have in the NHS, the speed in which this has been dealt with and the care, kindness, respect and professionalism of the team I have seen in Lincoln.
Sister Ellen and Harriet were amazing on my first visit. Ellen was so kind and clear when she contacted me to give my results and arrange the second procedure. As she was not available for my second procedure I saw Miss Harper who was again amazing. I had requested that Harriet be in attendance for the second procedure as she had calmed my fears and been so supportive. She and Nurse Ruth were absolutely brilliant. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions and I have truly had outstanding care and treatment. Thank you!
