"The whole experience was absolutely wonderful"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Same Day Emergency Care

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was referred by her GP. We were greeted and welcome by the lovely lady on reception. Once in the waiting area a lady came and asked us we wanted something to eat or drink.

We weren’t there 5 mins when my daughter was called through - this lady (sorry I have forgotten her name) was so friendly and put my daughters cannula in. She explained what would happen next and moved her to a cubicle.

Everyone from start to finish was so kind, friendly and informative. The wonderful staff nurse Elena came regularly to check in and make sure we were ok and that my daughter had been updated on what was happening or if she was waiting for results etc.

Pippa, a wonderful Trainee ACP, took thorough notes and really listened to my daughter, making her feel like she mattered and was being taken seriously. She asked so many questions did an extensive examination and covered so much, explaining everything in detail.

The consultant then came around, Dr Sidhiki. He was very thorough and kind, making my daughter feel very relaxed. The whole experience from start to finish was absolutely wonderful.

I have spent a lot of time in hospital as a relative over the last few years - I have been caring for my grandparents. I can honestly say SDEC is the best unit I have ever experienced. It has a lovely energy as soon as you walk in. All the staff on the unit seem to really get on (like family) they all seem to support each other and they really looked like they loved being there. Everything ran efficiently and swiftly, all the team worked tirelessly to ensure the patient experience was positive and it truly works. Thank you to everyone who took their time to help my daughter - I am truly grateful.

Dear marsbq54

Kaela Whyte, Nursing Associate SDEC, has asked I provide you with a response on her behalf, please see below.

“On behalf of the staff in SDEC thank you for your fantastic and kind feedback! It’s so great to know that your experience was supportive and you were made to feel at ease, yet not alone from start to finish. We are so pleased that the communication between yourself and all teams involved in your daughter’s care was consistent, compassionate, and informing.

I will ensure the feedback is shared amongst the team and individuals mentioned.

Thank you again, and I hope your daughter is feeling better.”

Kind regards

Kaela

Warmest wishes

Sarah
