"Hysteroscopy for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis"

About: Gynaecology / Gynaecology Outpatients

(as the patient),

I arrived an hour early due to circumstances. The Receptionist was lovely and suggested we may want to visit the café rather than wait in the waiting area.

My care team was amazing. Dr Youssef, KellyAnne, Yvonne, and ST Kelsey were stellar.

I came in feeling anxious and not really knowing what to expect despite having read the pamphlet I was sent.

Dr Youssef took the time to hear what's been going on and the treatments to date, asking relevant questions and genuinely making me feel like he cared about my health.

He then took the time to explain the procedure in detail which was very helpful. He then asked how "I" wanted to proceed. Do you want a local anaesthetic or gas and air?,How do you want us to do this so you are in as little distress as possible? That was an important question to reaffirm it's my body so I have the say in what happens.

He then asked if I was ok for him to bring in his team. Yvonne stayed by my side through the whole process and I was able to see what the Dr saw on the scope.

KellyAnne, Kelsey, and Yvonne were fantastic in keeping me engaged in conversation as I wanted (or needed) and paid close attention to my body language and checked in regularly. While they checked in Dr Youssef paid attention and waited for my answer before proceeding.

It was my choice to proceed without anaesthetic but at any time I know I could have changed my mind.

Post procedure I was offered water and given plenty of time to recover, get cleaned up, and get dressed. They were patient and considerate and kept me engaged in conversation rather than ignoring me while they tidied.

The NHS is in a choke-hold and needs more funding. It needs to be protected. It needs more medical staff. It needs more people like this Team. People like this team need and deserve more. They are proof this is more than a job and they really do care about the people they are treating. That can't be taught in schools.

I am extremely happy with the Team that looked after me and the way the procedure was done.

Thank you Dr Youssef, KellyAnne, Yvonne, and Kelsey for all you do.

Hi Tayside_Shar,

I am blown away by your kind words, thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I am exceptionally proud of the team as, as you said, they do truly care for everyone they treat.

It is really helpful to know the actions that made you feel so supported and cared for to ensure we can recreate this time and time again.

I will make sure this is passed on directly to those mentioned and on to the wider team and leadership so that your words are heard.

Thank you,

Martha Collier
