"Lack of continuity"

About: Yeovil District Hospital / Community Maternity Care

(as a service user),

Lack of continuity due to my midwife being off sick for the entirety of my pregnancy. I understand this cannot be helped. But it would have been good to have one same midwife covering from the beginning. As I’ve seen a different midwife each appoint up until 30 weeks. This means I’ve felt like no-one has known me or my background on each appointment. Luckily this is my second baby so I know what to expect, if it was my first pregnancy I would have felt very anxious and negative about the service.

Thankyou for this feedback.

I'm sorry to hear how a lack of continuity has affected you this far, and am disappointed we have let you down in this instance as we strive to provide continuity as much as possible.

At present we now have a dedicated midwife for each caseload within the Yeovil catchment so I am hopeful you will have much better continuity for the remainder of your pregnancy. Please do get in touch if this isn't the case, or you have any other concerns.

I wish you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy and beyond.
